The PADI Open Water Diver course at Silent Divers in Koh Samui, Thailand, is our most popular beginner course. Completing this course will allow you to dive up to a maximum depth of 18 meters with your buddy, anywhere in the world.

Once you have completed the PADI Open Water Diving Course, you’ll receive a certification card allowing you to dive with a certified buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters.
- For Junior Open Water Divers aged 12-14, the maximum depth is 18 meters.
- For Junior Open Water Divers aged 10-11, the maximum depth is 12 meters.

- Theory Sessions: Learn the principles of scuba diving, covering everything from dive planning to understanding dive equipment.
- Confined Water Training: Practice key skills in a safe, shallow environment like a pool or sheltered area to build your confidence.
- Open Water Dives: Put your skills into action during four open water dives at local dive sites around Koh Samui. You’ll explore beautiful coral reefs while gaining real-world experience.
- All Dive Equipment: We provide all the necessary dive gear, so you can focus on learning and enjoying your underwater experience.
- PADI Certification: Upon completing the course, you’ll earn your PADI Open Water Diver certification, allowing you to dive up to 18 meters anywhere in the world.
You can now combine the PADI Open Water Diving Course with the PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) course. Nitrox is normally the first additional certification new divers get due to the benefits of extended bottom times and shorter surface intervals.
Requirements
- Be at least 10 years old
- Be in good physical health and comfortable in the water
- Complete a medical questionnaire to ensure fitness for diving
- Be able to swim 200m and float for 10mins

Section 1: eLearning (Theory)
The theory portion for the PADI Open Water Diver course is completed online and can be started at any time, from anywhere. To ensure you’re fully prepared for the water sessions, the eLearning must be completed before these activities begin. Upon confirming your booking, we will send you an access code via email to log into the platform.
Section 2: Confined Water Sessions
On your first day, we will take you to the pool to learn and master all the required skills. These sessions are designed to help you build confidence and mastery in a safe, controlled environment. Training typically runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Section 3: Open Water Dives (4 Dives)
On days 2 and 3, you will be joining the boat excursion. The locations will be scheduled and advised based on weather and sea conditions. All our dive sites are in the area between Koh Samui and Koh Tao. Typically, boat excursions last from 9 am to 3-4 pm. We will arrange for you to be picked up from your hotel to arrive at our pier 30–60 minutes before departure for briefings and pre-departure checks.
